Trusting the Process – The Journey to Building REHMA Center

March 25, 20252 min read

Growth often comes through seasons of disruption and change. At REHMA Center, the past few months have been a time of building, both literally and figuratively. As we work toward transforming our space into a fully functional maternity clinic, the process has been anything but tidy. Dust, paint, and construction debris have become part of our daily landscape. But every brick laid and every wall painted is another step toward a greater vision: a safe haven for mothers and children in Mombasa.

Construction isn’t easy. It’s a process that demands patience, resources, and a steady focus on the end goal. This past month, we made significant progress, purchasing essential medical equipment and furniture for the clinic. Seeing these pieces arrive was a powerful reminder of the impact this space will have once completed. Yet, there is still much to do—more items to secure, more funds to raise, and more work to finish.

Community and Loss – The Heart of REHMA

In the midst of construction, our community experienced a profound loss. One of our Angaza Mama graduates, a beloved member of our Bible study group, passed away unexpectedly. Though her death was unrelated to childbirth, it has deeply affected the mothers she journeyed with.

On Friday, we gathered to support her family, share stories, and reflect on the community we’ve built at REHMA—a community where women come together to mourn, to encourage, and to stand in the gap for one another. In these moments, we are reminded that REHMA is more than a building. It is a lifeline.

Looking Forward

Every step forward is a reminder to trust the process, to embrace the mess before the beauty, and to believe in the vision of what REHMA Center is becoming. Thank you for walking with us, for your continued support, and for being part of this story.
